Alpha Project Pre production

Hey Guys!

So for the final week of Pre Production for the Final Major Project, I have been planing work for my fellow student's (Sam Callum) Project, Alpha. Alpha is a short film about a monster hunter and her trusty stead searching for the alpha monster. For this project I will be rigging the main character model, Keeva and animating a short scene.

The following are plans and tests for the rig. the character design (and eventually the model) are by Sam Callum.

Project Dance and personal animation preparation

Hi Eveybody!

So I began preparing animatics for the animations for my short film this week. I also was able to organize a team to work with me on the project, which for now we have named . I will be acting as Director, Animator and renderer for the project. My fellow students, Charlotte, Natalie, Gary, Janine and Nurul will be animators and Louis will be our environment and prop modeler. As we will be using Josh Burton's Morpheus rig and  Ex'pression College's Morphy wardrobe, we will not need character modelers and riggers.

Final Major Project Film idea

Hi Guys,

I have been thinking of ideas for a short film for my final major project. I came up with an idea that is kind of based on the story from Pixar's "One Man Band", which can be seen below:

The premise of my short idea is about a shy, young man at his final year prom and is working up the courage to speak to a person he has a crush on for some time. However, 2 girls fight over the affection of the protagonist, blocking him from his goal. Below are rough thumbs of the story:

Pipeline final render and beginning of Major Project

Hi Everybody.

So we handed in the E4 sting for our pipeline project this week and I'm pretty happy with how it turned out considering the short length of the project. I feel from this project I have been able to develop my directorial and rigging skills which will be a great help for my Final Major project, preproduction of which begins this week, however, I am still brainstorming ideas for the final major, but I think I will try to direct my own short, animate for that short and also rig a character.

Final Pipeline work

Hi Guys.

This week I have been working on finalizing animations, tweaking cameras, lighting and rendering the E4 sting. I hope to finish rendering over the weekend for hand in of the project next week. Here is a new Previz of the E4 sting which has close to final camera angles, but i changed some for the final renders.

Animation Effects and Motionbuilder exercise

Hi Everybody!
This week I have been working on tests for the crack and crumble animation effects for the E4 sting. I learned how to make these effects by using youtube tutorials.

This week we also had a class exorcise on how to use Autodesk Motionbuilder. It's bit more awkward to use than Maya but now I am able to edit and combine motion capture data.

Proxy Rig creation

This week I worked on creating the character's Proxy rig. I used techniques I learned last year and using Tina O'Hailey's book "Rig it Right". I will use this proxy rig when making the Pre viz.

Pipeline Animatic

Hi there,
So this week I focused on the developing of the E4 sting story by making storyboards and animatics. The camera is a bit too flat in these plans so I will experiment with different camera angles when I make Pre vizs.
